If you're new to yoga, it can be helpful to start with some basic poses that are easy to learn and practice. Here are some beginner-friendly yoga poses to get you started:
Mountain pose (Tadasana): Stand with your feet together, hands at your sides, and your weight evenly distributed between your feet. Lift your toes, spread them out, and then lower them back down. Engage your leg muscles, lengthen your spine, and relax your shoulders. Take a few deep breaths in this pose.
Downward-facing dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana): Start on your hands and knees, with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Press your hands into the floor, lift your hips up, and straighten your arms and legs to come into an inverted V shape. Hold for a few breaths, then lower back down to your starting position.
Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II): From mountain pose, step your left foot back about 3-4 feet, turning your left foot out at a 90-degree angle. Bend your right knee and extend your arms out to the sides, parallel to the floor. Look over your right hand and hold for a few breaths. Repeat on the other side.
Tree pose (Vrksasana): Stand with your feet together, then shift your weight onto your left foot. Lift your right foot and place the sole against the inner thigh of your left leg. Press your foot and leg together, and bring your hands to your heart center. Hold for a few breaths, then repeat on the other side.
Child's pose (Balasana): Kneel on the floor with your knees hip-width apart and your big toes touching. Fold forward, stretching your arms out in front of you and resting your forehead on the floor. Hold for a few breaths.
Remember to listen to your body and modify the poses as needed. As you practice, you can gradually work your way up to more advanced poses.
